Advancing the Common GoodHeadlines:Heart of West Michigan United Way’s Board of Directors has unanimously voted to use reserves to maintain current levels of funding for partner agencies. In providing stabilization by ensuring allocations are at the same level as 2008, United Way is sending a message of assurance to agencies battling an uncertain economy and diminished funding sources. “The Board of Director’s decision to utilize the stabilization reserve reflects our solid belief in the important work that our agencies do in our community,” said Deb Bailey, HWMUW Board Chair. “We knew that the agencies were facing difficult times with declining revenue and increased demand for service. Our single goal was to find a way to maintain funding at current levels. This is an important way to demonstrate our commitment to our long term agency partnerships and reflects our belief in them and all they do in our community. “ Click here for more information and agency reaction to the funding stabilization.
